Hideo Yamamoto

Hideo Yamamoto (山本 英夫, Yamamoto Hideo) is the Sacrifice of the Bloodless team who has a grudge against Septimal Moon. He completely hates Sacrifices with names different from his own name. Hideo initially comes across as rather pleasant and mild-mannered in contrast to his rude and obnoxious Fighter, Yurio, but is actually extremely cold and calculating.

Their team name "Bloodless" comes from their strategy of using psychological attacks against their opponents rather than focusing on physical damage and bloodshed. Another part of their strategy as shown in their battle against Soubi and Ritsuka is that they make it appear as if their roles are swapped, so the opponents mistake Yurio for the Sacrifice and focus their attacks on him instead of on Hideo.

History[]

Hideo made his debut in Volume 9, appearing with Yurio after Kio's kidnapping.

Hideo's original Fighter was a girl named Maiko, with whom he shared a close relationship, but she was killed by Nisei on orders from Septimal Moon, after which he was paired with the blank Fighter Yurio.

Relationships[]

  • Yurio (Fighter) - Hideo strongly resents Yurio for replacing Maiko and speaking so flippantly about her death. He chose to carve the team's name into his face to make it hurt more and has Yurio take the damage for him during their battles. When Yurio questions why Hideo hates him he answers that he neither likes nor hates him and all that matters is that they win their battles -- but when Yurio continues to press the matter, Hideo shuts him down, saying that the conversation is disgusting.

Etymology[]

Hideo shares his full name with Hideo Yamamoto, a Japanese manga artist.

  • The name Hideo means "excellent, fine" (英) (hide) and "man, husband" (夫) (o).
  • Hideo's surname Yamamoto means "mountain, hill" (山) (yama) and "base, root, origin, source" (本) (moto).

Trivia[]

  • It is implied that Hideo beat Yurio at some point.
  • Bloodless's name appears on the shoulder.
  • As Yurio's spells affect everyone within the area during battle, Hideo is also affected and is forced to remember losing Maiko.
